TEDxDublin is being organised by UCDs Aaron Quigley and is being hosted by Dublin’s Science Gallery on 12 June 2009 @ 19:15.
TEDx events are independently organised TED events. They are being organised in cities all around the world, and now in Dublin too! You can find more information about TEDx here.
So far only a Facebook page has been set up, but a proper site is in the pipeline.
Tickets sold out in a flash. The 100 places were snapped up in less than 50 minutes! Don’t worry though, if you didn’t manage to get a ticket, videos of the event will be available from the Science Gallery site afterwards, as well as one the keynote talks being broadcast live.
Confirmed speakers so far:
- Blaise Aguera y Arcas: His most visible project to date is Photosynth see http://labs.live.com/photosynth
- Scott Rickard: Who will present on “source signal separation” or the cocktail-party effect. In addition to his research Scott is keenly interested in science, mathematics, and engineering education, at all levels, and is co-founder of Science With Me! and co-created RoboRugby. He is the director of the Complex and Adaptive Systems Laboratory UCD
- Mark Billinghurst: Mark will present on “Accessible AR: Bringing Augmented Reality to the Masses”. Mark is the director of the Human Interface Technology Lab New Zealand. He is the inventor of the “Magic Book” – an animated children’s book that comes to life when viewed through the lightweight head-mounted display (HMD).
